Legendary hockey players from here in Portage and abroad will be playing on the ice at Stride Place as well as attending a Sportsmen's Dinner next month. It's the Boston Bruins/Terriers Alumni game.

Preston Meier"It actually stems back to 2013 when we originally brought in the Habs alumni," says Portage Rotary Club member Preston Meier. "We always promised in the next few years we would bring in another alumni team. The Rotary Club got together, and we're bringing in the Bruins alumni. It so happens that it's the 50th anniversary of the Portage Terriers."

Meier says Ray Bourque and the Bruins Alumni will be playing the Terriers Alumni on Friday, December 1st, as well as attending the Sportsmen's Dinner the next day on Saturday. The dinner was usually held this month each year, but was changed to coincide with the Alumni game.

A novice Portage team will also play with the Bruins Alumni for a few minutes.

Tickets for the Friday night game at 7:00 p.m. are $20 each and they're going quickly. You can find them at MIG insurance Freedom55, the Daily Graphic, and Stride Place.

Saturday will see an autograph signing session at Craig Dunn Motor City with dinner at Canad Inns later at 6:00 p.m.

Tickets for the dinner are $100, and if you buy a table and add an extra $500, a Bruins Alumni member will sit and have dinner together with you.

A 45-minute Questions & Answers period will also take place.

Proceeds are split between Portage Terriers and the Rotary Club's efforts to support our community.
