The RM of Woodlands is almost set to release their budget.

A public hearing has been set for April 27th at the Woodlands Municipal Office.

"We've held it there the past couple of years and it seems to accommodate anyone who has had an interest in it. So we plan to hold it at the office at 6 that evening," says Reeve Trevor King. "We're almost ready for first and second reading, and before we give it third reading we want to make sure we have had the public hearing"

King says it seems to be more and more challenging when it comes to the budget process every year.

"Your dollars are limited and you don't want to put any more burden on the taxpayer than we already have but just as anything else, we always see a slight increase on something. I'm not clear on the percentage just yet until we tweak a few things but I think we'll see a slight increase in the taxes."

"That's what we have to do as municipal governments dealing with taxpayer's dollars," adds King. "It's a limited amount of dollars and seems to be more limited coming from the other levels of government. It's a tough job but we at the lower level always seem to be able to manage it a little better than others."
