Legion week came to an end Saturday night at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 65 in Portage la Prairie. Legion President Barb Bradley explains what it's been like at the Legion this week.

"It's been very busy for all of our volunteers, and we're very grateful for all that. To be busy, it means people are coming into the legion and they're checking out what we have, they're participating in all the events we've had. It's been a wonderful week."

She says the crowd was a little younger Saturday night.

"The mood is more upbeat, definitely. We're targeting the modern vet, and the younger crowd like the vets children and grandchildren. I think they're paying attention now, and they really seem to want to participate in the Legion activities."

Bradley explains how they handled the incredibly busy week.

"We have a really good team. Our executive committee works very hard, and 1 person just couldn't do this. It takes a team of people to do this, just as you saw in the kitchen putting the social lunch together. We kind of feed off each other, 1 person gets tired and another person steps in."

Bradley adds a big thanks is owed to all the volunteers that made everything possible, and everyone who came out to support Legion week.
