What does unity look like in Portage la Prairie?

That's the question the Portage Community Revitalization Corporation (PCRC) is asking the artists in our City.

Vienna Lopez is the Community Facilitator for the PCRC and she explains a call is now out to artists to have a role in bringing the Simplot Central Park interactive water feature to life.

Lopez outlines a $25,000 grant from the Public Art Committee, along with funds from the Portage Parks Committee, is available to a selected artist, or artists, to get creative with the park for a minimum of $40,000.

"Artists can get creative and out of the box," says Lopez.

The artist or artists selected will have 1,500 square feet, and will be able to incorporate the art into the features.

The process to apply is reasonably straightforward: Provide a portfolio of recent work along with a letter of interest to the PCRC. From there, the Portage Parks Committee will select the artist to move forward to the jury stage, and from there the City will make the selection.
