"His name is Francis Poulsen." That's from Elm Creek 4H Beef Club leader Trevor Carlson, referring to the man who initiated an effort to raise money for cancer care. Carlson says Poulsen's efforts are related to his own struggle.

"A gentleman from our community who was a former parent and leader of our club came to us and wanted to do something for charity," says Carlson. "He's going through cancer treatments right now. He wanted to donate a steer to the club that our members could raise and sell at our auction at the Carman Fair, and donate the money for cancer care at Boundary Trails."

Carlson adds 4H members are footing half the bill for the feed themselves, looking after the steer, and will bring it to the fair to see how much they can raise.

The auction takes place on July 14th at 1:00 p.m.

The buyer gets to do whatever they like with the steer, and arrangements can be made to have it butchered or resold. Carlson adds if you're interested, come out to the fair and support a great cause.
