Anything about canola -- that's what Canolapalooza means, and it all took place Thursday in Portage la Prairie at the Agriculture and Agri-food Canada location on River Road.

The Qually family"It's a great day to promote canola growing within the province of Manitoba and all across Canada," says Rauri Qually, a farmer in Dakota just east of Portage. "It's great to see that so many great new innovations are happening in everything from emergence to compaction to pesticide use to fungicide use."

He says he learned a lot about how to grow better canola at a cheaper cost. He says he and his wife visited a lot of booths. Qually adds it was also great to see a few of his professors at a crop plot who taught him in the Ag Diploma program from which he just graduated, who explained helpful hints for better use of herbicide and rotation as well as better ideas for row-spacing.  Qually says he hopes the event grows and gets better each year, noting he wasn't disappointed.
