There was an abundance of laughter this evening as This Hour Has 22 Minutes star Cathy Jones performed her show Stranger to Hard Work at the William Glesby in Portage La Prairie.

The show was very well received by audience members who, as Glesby Centre executive director Carolyn Gray notes, were laughing hard and were fascinated by Cathy Jones' scintillating performance.

Fran Myles attended the show and says she didn't know what to expect at first but thought the show was great, adding Jones portrayed a nice variety of characters.

Friends Bonnie Heath and Lorraine Maciboric were also in the audience and describe Jones' performance as pure entertainment.

"I loved that she was real, she kept it real," explains Maciboric.

"Every topic that she covers she does with such fact and grace and she is hilarious," says Heath, adding the topics covered by Jones were very relevant and relatable. "To have her in Portage La Prairie is like a gift."

Gray explains it was a thrill to be able to host Jones at the Glesby Centre.

"She's an icon, she's a Canadian superstar. We were absolutely amazed that we could even get her and she's been so gracious and so much fun to work with and to rehearse with."

A reception with Jones was held in the art gallery following the show.
