Four individuals are facing charges after the Dakota Ojibway Police Service (DOPS) responded to a complaint of gun shots fired at Long Plain First Nation on Saturday.

Clinton Longclaws, 42, William Longclaws, 36, Stacey Longclaws, 40, and Carolyn Smoke, 40, are all facing charges of discharging a firearm with intent, careless use of a firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon and unauthorized possession of a weapon, DOPS says in a release.

Police say they were notified around 4:10 p.m., on Saturday that approximately three or four occupants in a vehicle stopped at the end of a driveway, then a male exited the car and fired several shots in the direction of five individuals standing outside a residence.

With the assistance of the RCMP, DOPS located the suspects at an apartment complex on Long Plain First Nation, and the residents of the 12-unit dwelling were evacuated.

Police say the RCMP Emergency Response Team was authorized and deployed to assist in the situation. Five individuals exited the residence around 7:52 p.m., Saturday, and were taken into custody without incident.

DOPS says no was injured as a result of the incident.
