Scotiabank's Christmas in July Bake Sale for the Portage la Prairie  Salvation Army is spilling over to today for Boxing Day in July.

Salvation Army Major Brenda Coles explains why they've decided to extend the fundraiser.

"I think it went okay. This is the first time that I've been here that we've tried a bake sale, we'll see how it will do. Apparently it's done well in the past, and so we're actually going to go over two days this year, Christmas and Boxing Day. So we have longer to celebrate."

She says it was a good decision to do a bake sale.

"The staff here has done bake sales and barbecues in the past, and they said the bake sales do well. Plus you're not out in the scorching heat, so we're seeing how it goes this year."

Coles adds they also had a mini Toy Mountain.

"It does give us that little boost for the toy drive, and Sheila and I will be doing a lot more come December with that. So this helps get a head start on that."

Scotiabank's Manager Sheila Templeton says they're glad to be helping out the local Salvation Army. She adds her staff really enjoy helping out with the bake sale as well.

The bake sale ends today at 4:30.
