Last Saturday's storm left about 30 trees damaged or destroyed in Portage la Prairie, and the Public Works Department's been busy cleaning up ever since.

Manager of Public Works Brian Taylor says there were also small branches all over the city. He outlines the clean-up effort.

"We did what we had to on Saturday, just getting stuff off the roadways, and then Monday, I had three crews out cleaning, and we're still out now. We've got the city looking pretty good -- a few branches here or there left."

Taylor expects the clean-up will be mostly complete by the end of the day.

"We have a couple of trees in the (Island) Park, and one out at the (Hillside) Cemetery that we're going to need to address, but they're not anything serious or threatening. Tomorrow we've got to get ready for the Canada Day celebrations, so we'll probably deal with those next week."

Here are pictures and video of one of the significant clean-up operations in the city.
