The Canadian Mental Health Association Central Region has new board members. Joe Hogue has a reason very close to his heart for getting involved with CMHA.

Joe Hogue"I have a son with mental health issues," says Hogue. "There's a history of it in my family. My mother also had mental health issues. Having been involved in it, I always felt it would be interesting to actually be part of the process instead of always being on the receiving end -- it would be nice to be part of the giving side."

Colleen MullenAltona resident Colleen Mullen also joined the board five months ago. She heard about the opportunity and notes it immediately jumped out to her. She says she's interested in promoting mental health adding she had a son who died by suicide. Mullen explains many projects are in the works, but they're always looking for new ideas and she hopes she can contribute toward that. She adds you can get help and you're not alone if you go through any kind of mental problems, after having experienced depression herself.
