The Canadian Mental Health Association Central Region has wrapped up Mental Health Week Activities. They held the tenth annual Office Olympics this afternoon at the Portage Mall, with seven teams taking part in the fun competition. While the event's been running for ten years, it was the first time for CMHA Executive Director Jordan Friesen, who says it was a great day.

"I really enjoyed it. I've never seen it before but the amount of energy in this room was fantastic. It was just great to see so many people cheering each other on. It's been a really good week. We've had a lot of contact with the public and media to promote the message of positive mental health and the community's been very receptive to it."

The team Twisted Sister --from Visions of Independence took the top prize of Grand Champion. Team Spokesperson Cora Pohl notes they've been involved in the annual event for quite some time, as a way to support the work of CMHA.

"Visions has probably been involved almost every year that it's been going on. We're community based and love to be involved in the community and it's so much fun. We're such believers in Canadian Mental Health and breaking down the stigma that, of course, we're going to be involved."

Overall Friesen says it was a great week, allowing them to raise awareness of mental health, and the services they provide in the local area.
