Train safety has become a major issue in Portage after a number of incidents within the past month. CN Police Constable Lise Aquin says the main priority of the CN Police is making sure all those around the rail road tracks are safe.

"We just want to make sure that everyone stays safe for the summer, and that's our number one priority, is safety for everyone, the commuting public, those who live around the railway, employees, essentially everyone.

Aquin did a safety presentation for students and staff at North Memorial School. She says the goal is to eliminate incidents completely.

"Today, we're going to be reminding them again not be playing around the railroad tracks, not to be trespassing, and how dangerous it is. Our main goal is to try to get these incidents to zero."

Aquin notes that if people need help, the CN Police are around for that purpose.
