There was lots of fun to be had in some surrounding communities this past weekend.

The Bull Bash in MacGregor brought in over 750 people who came to see the indoor bull riding.

Karla Gurke is one of the people who helped from the sidelines and says she didn't expect it to be as popular as it was.

"People weren't quite sure what it was. First thing, it was bull riding, but it was inside bull riding, so you didn't have to worry about the weather or anything like that," says Gurke. "We really sold it as a show. It was a piece of entertainment. When it comes to bull riding, apparently they travel miles and hours to go see events all over the countryside."

A little further southwest, the 8th annual Prairie Wind Music Festival was held at Cypress River.

Hundreds of people showed up to watch the various acts play.

Festival coordinator Stu Anderson says they've seen continuous growth.

"Anybody that comes to this festival raves about it," says Anderson. "Whether they're artists, campers, first-timers, or people who have been coming here for eight years. We have people that come here every year. For me, I'm really proud of that."

Pam Griffin on the organizing committee and board and she notes the event brings people from the community together, sharing a passion for music.
