Nine non-profit organizations went home with various sums of money yesterday, as the Community Foundation of Portage and District held their Fall Grant Presentations. CFPD Chair Carey Duncan:

"Today we have granted $72,337, and that's going to several different organizations in Portage La Prairie and the district. This is just a great opportunity to be able to give back to the community and have the community reap the rewards of it."

Wayne Campbell is Vice President of the Army Navy and Airforce Veterans in Canada Unit #13 in Portage, and explains they'll use the money to purchase an automated external defibrillator in case of emergency. Other organizations that received grants are Portage Arc Industries, Portage la Prairie Community Revitalization Corporation, Ecole Crescentview School, Sunset Palliative Care, Portage and District Heritage Advisory Committee, Fort la Reine Museum, and the Canadian Cancer Society.
