On April 7th at around 1 p.m. Sandy Bay Dakota Ojibway Police Service responded to a call of a single vehicle roll over on Main Road in Sandy Bay First Nation.

DOPS members attended to the scene and located a single vehicle on its roof. Local EMS, Sandy Bay fire department as well as Amaranth RCMP members also attended to the scene to assist. Initial investigation revealed that the eastbound truck lost control and rolled on the south side of Main Road.

The driver of the truck, a 54-year-old male from Sandy Bay Manitoba, the sole occupant was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police continue to investigate. Weather and road conditions do not appear to have been factors.
