The RM of Portage la Prairie looks back at one of its projects involving Delta Beach as a recent highlight. When its last water line expansion went out toward Oakland and the surrounding area, Water Services Board came with an estimated budget which the RM allotted for. Deputy reeve Roy Tufford says as they went forward with the project, some welcome news came their way.

Roy Tufford"When the tender came in, it was so much lower than what Water Services Board had estimated," explains Tufford. "I think we had 14 people bidding on it, and we usually have one. So, it made it a lot cheaper. We had enough money left over in the budget to continue the main line out to Delta."

He explains the council was shocked to learn more than 50 people wanted water at Delta. The line now runs out there in the developed area and feeds people all along that section as well as their campground.
