Portage la Prairie had over a 1,000 blizzards this past Thursday, but they were of the more tasty variety. The local Dairy Queen location held their annual Miracle Treat Day. Owner and manager Ron Collition explains what happened.

"We sold 1,025 blizzards. So, all the sales from those blizzards, miracle paper balloons, and coin canisters that we had set up go to the Manitoba Children's Hospital."

Collition gives the dollar amount.

"The total that we'll be submitting this year is $5,742.47. It's down from last year but it was still a good response this year. So, we're still pleased. Lots of people from Portage la Prairie and all the surrounding communities give us tremendous support."
