Today saw a turnout of about 500 people in Austin at the Manitoba Ag Museum grounds for the annual Farmers Appreciation lunch. Garth McCormick enjoyed the event, and is a producer from Oakville with some cows, grows grain, and special crops. He shares his experience.

Garth McCormick"I think it's wonderful. It just shows that you're appreciated. We have more food in this country than we know what to do with. And we all eat well and live well. It's nice that somebody appreciates what we do. You come and you're able to talk to other farmers and what they're doing and what their crop's like -- what you're up against today or tomorrow or the next day. It just gives you a good feeling I guess."

It was Murray Unrau's first time at such an event. He's from Edrans, and shares his thoughts.

Murray Unrau"It's kind of too wet to make hay, so that's why I'm here today. I think it shows a bit of appreciation from the other side, and maybe from in town. I'm impressed with meeting the people that we hear on the radio that do all the reporting and give us our weather forecast and so on. That's kind of something interesting."

Golden West Radio station manager Paul Harland says the weather was ideal, and extends his thanks.

"We're excited. We're happy that the rain held off. We just really want to thank our farm clients and our people that listen to our station. It's a treat to have them come out and we're able to give back to them. And it was some good food, and a chance to win a grain bin, and some other prizes. So, terrific turnout, and we're real excited to put the event on. I'm glad everything went well."
