The firefighters' muscular dystrophy car wash in Portage will be held tomorrow from 10 to 2 in the Portage Co-op parking lot. Firefighter Sandy Blight explains the event.

"It's a free car wash, all money that's raised goes toward Muscular Dystrophy Canada. There are lots of families in Manitoba that this affects. There will be a family out there that people can meet so they can see where the money goes to."

There will also be firefighters and fire trucks on site to help wash the vehicles, Blight notes in what way the trucks will be used.

"There will be two trucks out there, well hopefully two trucks, one for sure. We'll have them hooked up to a fire hydrant and we'll rinse the cars off, pre-rinse them before they go through. Then we'll get them all soaped up and rinsed off, hopefully using our aerial truck to rinse them off.''

The car wash is free, but all donations made go toward Muscular Dystrophy Canada. Blight adds there are many families in Manitoba affected by muscular dystrophy.
