John Taylor's been involved with the First Nations pipe ceremony for many years now and lives in Dakota Tipi First Nation. Taylor explains what it means to blow smoke from the pipe at various ceremonies.

Elder John Taylor"The pipe ceremony consists of blowing in the four directions of the wind to help the people in their problems in each of those directions," he says. "People have many kinds of problems."

He notes he's involved in a lot of ceremonies, and has people come to see him at home for traditional doctoring as well. Taylor says he's just gifted that way. He adds he held the ceremony at the recent Eagles Fire Youth Centre sexual exploitation awareness event, and really enjoys what he does. The event is sacred to First Nations people and they don't allow photography to take place when they're performing the ceremony.
