The Town of Arborg is working with the Municipality of Bifrost-Riverton to move some water away from the town. Reeve Harold Foster says they're making a two mile bypass, noting they're taking the water a mile east and then back into the river. Foster says the town and municipality are doing this in cooperation with the federal government and the feds are picking up ninety percent of the cost. He notes they have an area of approximately ten square miles which needs proper drainage, adding this is the only route they can go because if they put the water into the existing ditch the town of Arborg would experience flooding.

Foster says the problem began at a point in the northeast corner of Arborg, where water backs up every time they have a heavy rain. He notes they're going to put in some bigger pipes which will take the water one mile east and then one mile south, back into the river.
