The building which formerly housed the Portage Regional Economic Development office has been sold. Portage city councillor Liz Driedger says they're delighted to see this sale take place because it does allow council to move forward with plans to have PRED and the Planning District office under one roof. Driedger notes this will also create some efficiencies in those two departments.

She says while PRED hasn't moved into its new home just yet, they have identified the items which need to be transferred to the new location. Driedger adds a number of the other items which are still in the old building will be disposed of in different ways, possibly by being sold off or redistributed to other departments. The final sale amount and the name of the building's buyer will not be disclosed until possession day.
