The Fourth Annual Rotary Peace Ride took place Sunday.

Around two dozen motorcycle riders and passengers, as well as a couple classic cars, came out to ride and support the Rotary Club and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Portage la Prairie. Rob was one of the riders at the Peace Ride and shares what brought him out.

"Well I've done this for a couple years, riding with Rotary, and especially now with Big Brothers Big Sisters this year there's an added incentive to make the ride."

He adds he likes gathering with the other riders and enjoying a good day together.

Chairperson for the Peace Ride, Jim Brands, says the turnout for this year's ride was similar to previous years and they were happy with the day. He shares even though some people weren't able to make it out to the ride they nonetheless made donations. The proceeds from the Peace Ride go toward resurfacing the tennis courts on the Island and the BBBS mentoring program.

BBBS Executive Director Dawn Froese shares more.

"It's going towards our mentoring programs, our in-school mentoring programs, which run fall to spring through the school year where we mentor a child at school for one lunch hour. So it's going to go help us find some more mentors and activities for the kids to do."

This was the first time BBBS and the Rotary Club have partnered for an event and both Brands and Froese say they were happy to partner with each other.
