A fundraiser will be held Friday night for the new senior men's hockey team in MacGregor. Spokesperson Tanner Nicoll says they'll start the evening off with a steak dinner in the MacGregor hall from 5 until 7, noting at 7:15 there'll be a comedy show featuring a performer from Winnipeg. Nicoll says if there's enough interest, the comedian will also do a second show at 8:45. He adds the last event of the night will be a social at the Austin Credit Union Normac Centre from 9 p.m. until 2 a.m.

Nicoll says because the MacGregor Wild is a new team, they have certain first-time costs which other teams in the Tiger Hills League aren't experiencing. He notes a good turnout at the Friday night event will definitely help with some of those costs and make the Wild viable for a long time into the future. Nicoll adds it's been twelve years since they last had a senior team in MacGregor and there seems to be a lot of excitement in the community. He says costs for the Wild's first season will be approximately fifteen to twenty thousand dollars, so anything they can put toward that will be a big help. The home opener for the MacGregor Wild is slated for October 29th.
