Another wine tasting fundraiser took place last night at the William Glesby Centre in Portage la Prairie.

Glesby Centre Board Chair Mickey Cuthbert says the event keeps getting better each year, noting they had 200 tickets sold in advance. She feels it's an indication of  how the Centre's seen in the region.

"I think that tonight is proof that they know it's not just a music theatre -- that we do more things that put on shows, although I want them to come out to the shows, too. But this is something totally different, and they like that, too."

Among the people taking in the event were Melissa and Jeff Taylor. Melissa says they support the Glesby because it's a cultural hub.

Melissa and Jeff Taylor"It's a great place where people can get together. If you don't support it, how else are people going to come, performers and artists, to put on shows for us, where we can all get together and enjoy local music and cuisine."

For Glesby Centre Executive Director Carolyn Gray, it was her first wine tasting ever, and she calls the event exciting.

"People are in wonderful spirits. I've that this fundraiser goes really, really well, but I understand tonight has exceeded all our past records, and people are pretty excited about it."

Mickey Cuthbert thinks they'll have raised about $4000, after expenses.
