A horse-themed paint night took place late last week in Portage la Prairie.

Organizers Crystal Neudorf and Dianne Brown put on the event as a fundraiser to support their endeavour to bring Cowboy Dressage to Manitoba.

Brown explains Cowboy Dressage is a way of working with one's horse in a way that is centred around partnership. Both Neudorf and Brown have had to travel to Saskatchewan to participate in shows and clinics, and they are now working on hosting the first ever Cowboy Dressage Show here in Manitoba later this year.

Neudorf is an Ambassador for Cowboy Dressage and explains she is very grateful for the community support noting all spots filled up quick.

Local artist Yvette Cuthbert lead the paint night. Neudorf adds she is very thankful that Cuthbert volunteered her time and skills to the fundraising efforts.

"It's a fun way for people to get together, share a few laughs, and people can go home with something they have a memory from," says Cuthbert.

The Cowboy Dressage Show is taking place later this year in June and will see a representative from Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Ontario.
