We're only a couple of weeks away from graduation at Portage Collegiate Institute.

The big celebration is set for June 23rd at Stride Place, with prom and safe grade set for the 24th.

"I think grad is one of the more exciting days we have here at the school," says Principal Gregg Waldvogel. "It's a great community event with a lot of people that turn out to support our grads. I think we're anticipating about 185-190 graduates this year, which is about average. The overall day is a fun day for the students and families because it's kind of a reward for 13 years of hard work. It's exciting for us, but I'm sure it's more exciting for the students."

The school's currently in the process of preparing for exams. Graduation day is a busy one with a rehearsal in the morning and awards and bursaries in the afternoon at Stride Place. Waldvogel says they'll be handing out around $85,000 worth of bursaries and scholarships.

Convocation will start at 7 p.m. on the 23rd with awards that afternoon at 1:30 p.m. Stride Place. Prom and the Grand March take place at Stride Place on the 24th. That's followed by Safe Grad later in the evening.
