The grand opening of a new church sanctuary was celebrated this past Sunday in the community of Sidney, and about 70 people from all over the region came out for the celebration.

Pearl Wieler, president of the Sidney Community Centre, was there along with Municipality of North Norfolk Mayor Neil Christoffersen who helped cut the ribbon.

"It's great to see a new church in town again. We've been without one for quite a while. It's pretty amazing. Everybody should come see for themselves."

Christoffersen adds he was pleased to have a part in the celebration, noting he likes to see the expansion of fellowship and praise in Sidney. He says it's not just great for Sidney, but also for all of North Norfolk and the overall Christian community.

The church project was through the cooperation of Sidney Christian Assembly led by Pastor Peter Lemky and Sidney Breath of Life Church led by Pastor Mike Blume. The churches united their efforts and currently operate under the name Sidney Breath of Life Church with Mike Blume as pastor.
