Portage la Prairie's 2nd annual Family Fun Day is less than a month away! Youth City Councillor Donovan Hillman says they were blown away at the success of last years event, and hope for a similar turnout this year. He explains what and when family fun day is.

"On July 13th, from 5:30pm-8:30pm, the City Of Portage la Prairie, alongside numerous non-profit organizations, will be hosting Family Fun Day 2016 at Fort la Reine School. Everything is absolutely completely free for anyone that wants to come out."

He outlines some of the activities going on.

"It'll be kind of the same setup as last year; we'll have numerous game stations such as a rubber duck game station and a bouncy castle. We're spicing things up a little bit this year; we've hired a children's entertainer called Mr. Ken from Winnipeg. He'll be performing for all of the families at Family Fun Day."

Hillman says they're always looking for volunteers for Fun Day.

"Last year, we expected between 50-100 people and I believe the numbers were closer to 225, so we were completely blown away. Anyone interested in helping out with the food service or helping any of the organizations involved, can email me at youthcouncillor@city-plap.com and if you want any more details on Family Fun Day, you can email me at that same address."
