Thursday was the last day for the Portage Plains United Way's Koats For Kids dispersal in Portage la Prairie. Big Brothers Big Sisters executive director Dawn Froese says it was another successful year.

"There's not a lot left. We've had a few people coming already. We've probably given out I think around 240 coats alone. I've not done a complete tally, but I think that's roughly the number."

Froese notes people bring health cards in order to inform the staff of how many children will need winter clothing. She says ski pants, coats, and boots were available, with a lot of scarves, mittens and hats as well. Froese adds a lot of kids are now ready for the cold weather in portage la prairie. She thanks all who contributed to the program.
