2017 will present some challenges for the Portage la Prairie Regional Library. Head librarian Percy Gregoire-Voskamp says in the coming year they'll have to figure out how to comply with new regulations from the province concerning health and safety as well as accessibility. Gregoire-Voskamp notes they'll also delve even further into digital books and magazines, adding it's a two world system now with print and digital materials. He says the library will likely have to spend more money on digital items in the new year.

Gregoire-Voskamp notes although e-books are stagnating a bit, e-audio books have really started to climb. He adds people want to listen on their devices as they're doing something else, so that's probably where the library will head. Gregoire-Voskamp says their web page needs a major overhaul and they'll also be moving into Facebook and other social media throughout 2017.
