LP Connoisseurs have a chance to enhance their collection thanks to the Portage Regional Library. The annual book sale's still taking place, and sales have mounted up. Librarian Percy Gregoire-Voskamp gives us an update.

"On the table right now we've just put out the LP's. There's quite a large and varied collection of LPs from classical to Rock and everything in between."

He outlines how sales are going.

"It's been going very fine. We have made in excess of $12,000 so far. And this is all donations from the very generous public actually. Suzy still has out some hard cover fiction and trade paperback fiction. I think the politics is still out and health and philosophy. Things of that nature. Now, if you're into sheet music, there is some of that, too. And some of that is from the Rock era, which is collectible as well. Collectible books have been put away for the year."

Last year about $17,000 was raised, and this sale will continue to the end of the month. He notes $12,000 is a typical amount, with last year being quite exceptional. Gregoire-Voskamp adds material that is being removed from the shelves will remain for sale through to the end of the effort, including non-fiction and is priced at 50 cents. Adult fiction will also go for 25 cents, which is an add-on to the sale as opposed to being part of the overall summer sale.

All proceeds go toward their programs to keep them free of charge, and for extra cash to cover extra expenditures.
