Lions Prairie Manor's annual Fall Harvest lunch was a whopping success in Portage la Prairie this afternoon. Foundation Chairman Murray Graham says the day was perfect for the event.

"It's going very well. We were a little worried this morning when we saw the rain clouds, but it turned out very well. The crowd is very good. We had to actually go and print more tickets, because we ran out of tickets. It's more than we had last year. But last year had a little bit of rain. "

About 350 people showed up.

He notes a tent was set up in case of rain, and it served well for other reasons.

Murray Graham"We have a tent set up here for any of those who like to get out of the wind or the sun. Last year we had more in the tent because it was raining. This year it's sort of coming and going. Then we have people sitting outside on a patio near where the food being served. They like that out there because of the sun."

Graham adds one resident was especially excited.

"He was really looking forward to this. His wife was coming to join him and have lunch with him. And he's looking good, too. He was looking forward to this."

He thanks the community for supporting them, noting they come forth every year whether it's rain or shine. Graham says it really helps them with their projects for the residents.
