There's a book reading this afternoon at the Portage Regional Library. It features a local author Fran Myles.

"She's got a children's book that she's written called Ken Ora," explains Library program coordinator Lori Mackedenski. "Fran's originally from Kenora herself, but she's been living and teaching in Portage for several years and is now a retired teacher. It's her first children's book and we're really looking forward to that."

Myles' reading starts at 2 p.m. today at the Portage Regional Library. On Wednesday, Dec. 7, Gordon Goldsborough will be stopping by. "He'll be doing a reading, some book sales, and signing of his new book which is called Abandoned Manitoba," says Mackedenski. "That book is about abandoned buildings in Manitoba and it will happen at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7."

Mackedenski says they'll also be having Barbara Huck in on Dec. 13 at 6:30 p.m. She wasn't able to make it because of weather last week and Mackedenski says her book In Search of Canada's Ancient Heartland is all about the Province of Manitoba from a geographical, archaeological and paleontological point of view.
