Today's the 15 anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on New York's World Trade Centre.

Among the thousands who lost their lives that day were many members of the New York Fire Department, and firefighters around the world still remember them.

Portage la Prairie Fire Chief Phil Carpenter's among them, and says it underlines nature of the job.

"That it is a hazardous job, or can be a hazardous job at times, and that we want to remember them. And that it brings you a bit back to the reality of it that we have to be aware of at all times."

Carpenter isn't surprised 9/11's still remembered after 15 years.

"It was such a large magnitude that it was recognized world-wide, and that when it does occur, that there are many lives that are lost, both civilian and emergency people in that field, it's good to reflect back and remember them."
