Two Portage la Prairie entrepreneurs did the first test run of their new table top card game Monstrocity last Friday evening at the Portage library.

Scott Klassen and Chris Pleasants are co-owners of Scene 24 Studios, and have been developing the game for about three years.

Klassen describes the process.

"I had a basic idea in my head, and I cut out little scraps of paper, wrote up little cards, and just sat around and tested until I had established a set of rules I felt (was) enjoyable. Over the last few years, we've tweaked them here and adjusted them there, and it's very fulfilling to see it all come together."

Meanwhile, Chris Pleasants is pleased response so far has been positive.

"Everybody has lots of fun with it. Having worked on it for the last few years, I've only really started to be able to play it for the last couple of months, and it's quite fun, and variable. And I think that's what people like about it. I've had game that's lasted about four minutes, and then I've another game that was over an hour."
