A Long Plain First Nation man is facing 22 charges in relation to a variety of events that resulted in a police manhunt in Portage la Prairie last week.

The RCMP says 24-year-old Jordan Brent Myran, the male suspect who was at large and the subject of a wide-scale police search June 27 in Portage, is facing charges on a variety of counts including Armed Robbery, Arson and numerous firearms charges. Police say he has been remanded in custody and appeared in a Portage la Prairie Provincial Court yesterday.

Two females also arrested during last week's manhunt in Portage when RCMP initially stopped the vehicle Myran escaped on foot from, also face charges. Mounties say Deidra Marie Merrick, 29, of Winnipeg, is facing nine Criminal Code charges in relation to the June 27 events, including Possessing a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Armed Robbery and numerous firearms charges. Tina Mabel Grace Daniels, 37, faces 12 charges including Possessing a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Armed Robbery and numerous firearms charges.

The RCMP says officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle with multiple firearms inside it entering the Portage la Prairie detachment area in the afternoon June 27. Police stopped the vehicle at 14th Street NW and McKay Avenue, where two females were arrested and one male fled on foot. The man at large was believed to be armed, resulting in a lockdown of all schools in Portage and a heavy police presence throughout the city. The suspect, now known as Myran, was shot during his arrest shortly after 6 p.m. June 27 just east of Portage near Highway 1.

The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba has since taken over the investigation of the arrest, as it was an officer-involved shooting.
