The new arena's taking shape in the town of Lundar, in the RM of Coldwell. Construction started in mid-May, and Reeve Brian Sigfusson gives us an update on the project's progress.

"There was some excavation to do on the north end," he says, "They'll be finished that today. Then they just need to pack it more, and put the gravel in it, and it'll be ready for the floor extension. The piles, they have a few left to put in, but they're making that possible, where they're going to put them in. Then they cut them and pour in the foundation beam. Once you get that in, then the building will start going up."

Sigfusson calls it a good feeling to see it becoming a reality.

"And I think lots of people that were kind of unsure about it, will feel a lot better," he says, "Once they see the walls and the roof go on, and they get a look at the new-design building. It's a concrete building, so our fire insurance should be a lot less. It's good that way, and they're going to have a walking track around up top, too."

The 2.6 million dollar project's expected to be finished some time in November.
