MacGregor Elementary School's reaching out to raise funds to replace their 30-year-old play structure. Parent Advisory Councillor Caroline Wiebe outlines how they're going about it.

"We had a few different fundraising events that we've planned to raise money for this. We had an idea from research online to do a 100-day campaign where we'll be searching out people who are interested in donating $100. And if we can get 100 people to donate $100 over 100 days we could raise $10,000."

She updates us on their progress.

"We have about $35,000 raised. And our goal is about $75,000. We're kind of at that half-way mark. The actual structures have seen a lot of use. To our knowledge, they are almost 30 years old. They have seen a lot of life and they have done well."

Wiebe explains how it's more than an addition to their school.

"I think it would just be a great moral boost. To get the community involved in fundraising for something that is the largest open green space in the town, and I guess used by a lot of people. It's not even just the families of the school and the students. It's a community space. So, it's there for families who don't have their kids in school yet, or grandparents who take their kids out."

She says they began fundraising in September 2015, and hope to reach their goal by June 2017.
