Many communities in the Central Plains region are reeling from this weekend's storm.

Andrew Doerksen is a farmer north east of MacGregor and one of the many who hasn't had power since Thursday night.

"We've been getting as many generators as we can so we can run the basics in our home," says Doerksen. "For myself, we weren't able to heat our house so we had to leave and go to my parents' house where they have power. We're just doing what we can to get by until the power is back on."

They have been in contact with Manitoba Hydro and says they've been hearing the power won't be up for another 7 to 10 days.

"We've had a number of people reach out to us. Even with our farm, we've been able to get some generators to power our potato shed because they can't be without air for long," says Doerksen. "A lot of people have been trying to help us and we've been working together to get through."

The storm has had a major impact on all farmers across the region. He says they're hopeful about getting back to business.

"Everyday that the snow melts is a step in the right direction," says Doerksen. "We're not going to give up until it's completely impossible to go."
