The Portage Regional Library and others across the province will be undergoing a review that will utilize our library's staff to gather information to ensure that the services offered are delivered as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Trevor Surgenor"The objective of the review is to gain a better understanding of the development priorities as they relate to government legislation, our programs, and library services in Manitoba," says Public Library Services Branch Director Trevor Surgenor. "We'll work closely with municipal and regional library representatives in Portage and throughout Manitoba to gather the information that we need to develop policies options for government."

He says they're starting with a stakeholders survey, giving municipal council boards, citizen appointees, library administrators, and staff the chance to provide the information to form the basis of stakeholders forums they'll hold across Manitoba.

"We are asking what the needs are from the service providers' perspective. They understand their clients. They'll communicate what the pressures and opportunities are, and we'll take that information from each municipal regional library system in Manitoba, and look at taking responsive and responsible action to achieve the priorities where they're shared."
