Youth For Christ (YFC) profited from peoples' generosity Tuesday at Portage la Prairie's MCC.

It was MCC Day and Youth For Christ executive director Art Schroeder was presented with a $3,500 cheque at the end of the day.

"A lot of people were coming through the doors today," says Schroeder. "We had a barbeque out back and served almost 200 hotdogs. The community support makes me feel great. It's really nice to see the support and to know the support will go back to helping the community."

A lot of students from around Portage stop in YFC's drop-in nights and many of the other great things they offer.

"We have a lunch program and a supper program, after school programs, and great drop-in programs. Junior High is Tuesday's and Monday and Wednesday is high school drop in for students Grades 7 to 12. This donation really will go a long way."

MCC Manager Kevin Hamm is always shocked at how much support they get for their MCC Day events and hopes the support continues in the future.
