MRAC Executive Director Ted Eastley

The Manitoba Rural Adaptation Council  is looking to re-invent itself. The not for profit group held its annual general meeting yesterday in Portage la Prairie.

As part of the day, Executive Director Ted Eastley unveiled a 5 year strategic plan to rebrand the Council and broaden its focus. Eastley says there is a desire to expand its reach to multiple portfolios.

The Manitoba Rural Adaptation Council provides funding for initiatives that advance the provincial ag industry. Currently, it distributes around $2 million dollars per year. Eastley says the goal is to administer $6 million dollars of funding per year to multiple portfolios by 2015.

He says things have changed a lot over the past 16 years that the council has been in existence and the group needs to reposition itself to be a benefit to the industry.
