The Community Foundation of Portage and District's going to be highlighting their work, and providing a boost to the community tonight. They're set to host their annual celebration which Executive Director Mary-Lynn Moffat says will not only see them hold the annual general meeting, but will also feature the presentation of some community funding.

"We present our annual report for 2015, we'll also be presenting some of the grants that have been awarded from the spring applications, and bursaries that are handed out through the foundation. Of Course, we'll also be doing some donor recognition. We hope anyone that's interested in finding out what the foundation does will come out and join us."

The foundation was established in 1996, and the fund they manage surpassed $7.2 million in 2014. Over the years CFPD has given well over $2 million dollars to various community groups and organizations. Moffat says their annual celebration will highlight many of those aspects, adding it's a chance to show their impact on the community to the public.

"It's a great opportunity for folks to find out more about what the foundation does, how they might be able to get involved, how we can help them meet their goals and wishes in the long-term. It just shows what the money does in terms of supporting the community and the wonderful projects going on."

Tonight's event is set for seven o'clock at the Portage and District Arts Centre.
