Manitoba Public Insurance unveiled a new policy that protects your privacy on registration forms. External communications manager Matt Schaubroeck explains it deals with your home address.

Matt Schaubroeck"On the registration cards that all policy holders have when they have a current policy with Manitoba Public Insurance is their address," Schaubroeck says. "So, if you're leaving your registration card in your vehicle, and someone happens to break into your vehicle, all of a sudden they have your home address."

Schaubroeck notes MPI chose to move forward with the measure as a means of improving your confidentiality and security. He adds your personal data will now remain protected, and new cards will be issued over a period of time.

"Over the next five years as you go in to renew your policy, or you're looking to change any information -- if you're moving, for example -- you'll be getting this card at no additional cost to you," he explains. "If you do want to have that address taken off immediately, there's a $15 replacement fee. You can go into any insurance broker or any service centre in Manitoba and have that taken care of."
