There's going to be a new face with the RM of Portage la Prairie.

Reeve Kam Blight says they've hired on a new assistant CAO, and outlines the details.

"Valarie Cutting is going to be retiring. She's been trying to retire for quite some time now, and she's been such a valuable asset to our municipality it's hard to let her go, but we want to make sure we have a proper person in place before that happens. Valarie's been good enough to this municipality to agree to stay on and help with a transition of a new CAO which is Nettie Neudorf, and now also she'll be working alongside Andrea McCabe, who'll be starting on August 2nd."

Blight says they're sad to see Cutting go, but she's not heading out just yet.

"Valarie's agreed to stay on for the month of August to work along side of Andrea and help her get accustomed to the new position. We're very excited to have Andrea as part of the RM of Portage la Prairie team, and we're very sad to see Valerie Cutting go, but I think we're very confident we're in good hands going forward and we're very excited to be working with Andrea."

Blight says there were a lot of qualified applicants.

"Yes, it's a local person that does live in the RM, and is currently employed within the City. So we're very excited to have such qualified people in our region applying for these positions, and once again we're very excited about having Andrea aboard."

McCabe starts August 2nd.
