At Southport's annual general meeting (AGM) yesterday, a new board chair was announced.

Vic Gerden will start his ninth and final year on the board as the new chair, replacing outgoing nine-year member Paulette Connery.

He tells us how it feels to be nominated.

"I'm honoured to represent Southport as chair of the board of directors," says Gerden. "I believe it's an outstanding organization, we have a great team here, and I'm pleased to be part of it."

Gerden says he was first invited to serve as a board member by a board member eight years ago. He will serve his last year as chair, as 9 years is the limit set out by the executive.

He notes the AGM showcawsed that Southport is only continuing to improve, making it attractive for not only tenants, but the community also.
