The City of Portage la Prairie's Indigenous Community Coordinator's moving -- but only to a new building.
Cornell Pashe's new office is in the Portage Community Revitalization facility on Royal Road North. He's excited about the change of location.
"This week will be the first week," he says, "Last week, it was moving the office over, and getting the computers set up. Eventually, I knew that I would someday be here, and now that I'm here, I'm looking forward to be a part of Revitalization, and all its departments, looking forward to doing some good, positive initiatives."
Pashe feels the new location will help achieve the goals set out for him.
"It's been fairly busy," he says, "Almost every day we've had meetings and we've been moving forward with the different stakeholders and the different individuals that we need to work with. And eventually, we need to have those engagement sessions to find out what those issues are, and at the same time, trying to establish that first nation council that we need to engage."
Pashe says he'll continue to attend City Council meetings, whenever updates are required.
