The Municipality of Norfolk-Treherne's new municipal shop held its grand opening earlier this month, near Treherne.

Reeve Craig Spencer says the opening drew 40 to 50 people.

"Some from other municipalities around. We patterned ours off of Dufferin, and now we hear some other municipalities who are also in the situation where they have old buildings, are coming to look at this new building," he says, "It was costed out at 1.3 million dollars, and we're very pleased to say there was no debenture to be taken out on it. It was paid for by reserves, and by what we call CPI money."

Spencer says the mood of staff in the new building is upbeat.

"They meet in the morning, and discuss what they're doing, and we have hired a manager of operations," he says, "We've basically modernized our public works department, and we see value already, in some regards, in terms of how we're doing things, and providing better servicing."
